We wanted club members to be aware that although we experimented with a trash can on-site at the field, things just didn’t work out. We couldn’t find enough members willing to do the work of hauling off the trash regularly (because the field has no contract recycling services) and the trash can was routinely overfilled. Worse, the trash was falling out of the trash can and blowing all over the property, upsetting the property owner and putting our ability to stay at the site at risk.
At the request of the board, we have now removed the trash can from operating service at the field. It has been placed on top of the storage box, where it will remain until the owner of the can retrieves and removes it. Members should once again personally remove all trash that they generate at the field and take it home with them at the end of their flying session.
